Oxfam launched a global campaign in October 2014 to highlight extreme inequality – Even It Up! This is just one step forward in the Oxfam journey in the fight against inequality. At the 2014 World Economic Forum, Oxfam revealed that just 85 people hold the same wealth as half the world’s population.
Ahead of the World Economic Forum in Davos where corporate and world leaders meet, we will host our own ‘World Equality Forum’ in Bangkok. The event will be held at Museum Siam and bring together speakers from diverse backgrounds to discuss ‘what does inequality look like in Asia?’ and ‘what can we do to fight it?’ The event will take place over the morning with an audience of interested partners working on inequality alongside key media outlets.
The focus for the launch will be the publication of the new Oxfam Report on inequality in Asia exposing the myths around growth and inequality by portraying the harsh realities of inequalities. We will demonstrate action is already being taken with a collection of pledges from various individuals and institutions to fight inequality.
The visual and digital focus for the launch will be a highly engaging and interactive microsite created by award-winning journalist and film-maker Dan McDougall. The combination of text, film and photography will illustrate the stories of people experiencing inequality intertwined with new statistics from Oxfam research.
Be part of the audience for this interactive and conversational launch.
